Truck loaded with voters in Passi turns turtle, 3 dead

THREE persons were killed in a road accident at Brgy. Magdungao, Passi City, Iloilo Monday afternoon.

Killed on the spot were Jun Jun Feraro, 22, Cathy Cesar, 30, and Jasper Palomar, 17.

The victims were among 50 persons who boarded a hired truck to transport them to the polling center at Sitio Ingkibon in Brgy. Magdungao.

The truck is owned and driven by a certain Joan Padernal who surrendered to the police after the incident.

Supt. German Garbosa, Passi City police chief, said the truck was negotiating a portion of the road on a cliff when the truck stalled and rolled towards the ravine. The truck rolled three times until it settled some 20 meters from the road.

A total of 30 passengers were brought to the Don Valeriano Palmares Memorial Hospital in Passi City for treatment of various injuries.
