Miss Dinagyang to higher level

THE prestigious beauty and brain search, Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2011, is up to a higher level as the grand winner will be sent as Ambassadress of Goodwill abroad as part of her prize package.

Aside from the trip, Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2011 will also receive a cash prize, trophy, sash, bouquet of flowers and plaque and other gifts worth a beauty queen.

This was announced by the new management of the 2011 Miss Iloilo Dinagyang even as application forms for contestants are being distributed in different outlets to attract young ladies to join and vie for the title.

The Sarah Peña-Pangging Rosales (SPPR) Reel Productions is next year’s operations manager of the beauty search and working committees were organized to spearhead the contest.

Sarah O. Peña, a philanthropist and businesswoman, is wife to Judgee Lopez Peña and mother of three lovely daughters whose eldest daughter Rita may soon become a lawyer. Involved in numerous charitable causes, Sarah was a Hermana Mayor and husband Judgee the Hermano Mayor for two years of the Dinagyang Festival and San Jose Parish.

A woman of style and substance, she is most sought-after to lead events and activities in the city and her name is synonymous to generosity and charity work.

Meanwhile, partner Pangging Rosales, a businesswoman who now runs Eros Botica drugstore, is also a best dressed hall of fame winner who represented Iloilo Dinagyang in the Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City USA in 2008.

Daughter of the late media mogul Atty. Ernesto Rosales of Allied Broadcasting Network, Pangging is a US-licensed medical technologist who is also a fashion icon and favorite subject of society columnists.

Both power women recruited competent staff and friends to manage and operate the beauty search who promised the Dinagyang beauty event in 2011 will be different.

The formal launching and contract signing for members of the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2011 SPPR steering committee was held on October 20 while the screening of candidates will be held on November 22.

The candidates will be presented to the public on December 1, 2010 and photo exhibits will be on January 2-12, 2011. The candidates will undergo a barangay emersion program on January 9-13, 2011 for a Big Sister Day program that will focus on women and children advocacy.

A Young Designer’s Night will be held on January 15 while another photo exhibit of candidates will be held on January 18. Coronation and pageant night will be on January 18, 2011 at SM Cinema 6.
